Rotarians are serving around the world.
The Newberg Noon Rotary Club has been internationally active for many years, reaching out to help with humanitarian aid in many different areas of the world.
Currently, our focus is in two primary areas: Guatemala and Nepal.
In Guatemala, our club has provided school infrastructure, micro-credit programs and annual or semi-annual dental aid visits to rural areas. Newberg Rotarian Auggie Gonzales has led the dental project for many years with numerous Rotarians joining him each year. Rotarians LeRoy Benham and Marni Haley were instrumental in starting the project in the early 2000’s.
We’ve partnered with the Rotary Club of Antiqua to provide these dental clinics in a number of villages. The results of visiting the same village for a number of years and providing care as well as dental education has seen the dental work change from extracting decayed teeth to more preventative and cleaning activity. This has resulted in better health for the villagers.

In Nepal, we provided relief funds to help provide shelter after the April 2015 earthquake, which devastated much of the country.
We also were awarded a Global Grant from The Rotary Foundation to provide two dental clinics in Kathmandu. These clinics will be sustainable projects. The clinics were held in November, 2015. Newberg Rotarian and dentist Eric Bergquam led the mission
In 2017 we received a Global Grant from The Rotary Foundation to bring water to a village that lost their water source in the 2015 earthquake.
Newberg Rotarian Dale Welcome visited the water project in March of 2017. He was able to meet our partner, Nepal Rotarian Bishnu Subedi and with villagers and to provide assistance. Newberg Rotarian Laura Tilrico wrote and developed both the Nepal Global Grants.
We have worked with Rotary Clubs within our District on water and sanitation projects in Tanzania and economic development in Colombia.
