
West Point graduate, Iraq War veteran, and former army captain Paul K. Chappell shows why people need to be as well trained in waging peace as soldiers are in waging war. Chappell is the founder of Peace Literacy and the author of six books, most recently Soldiers of Peace. Lecturing across the country and internationally, he also teaches college courses and workshops on Peace Literacy and Peace Leadership and leads a Peace Literacy curricular development team for k-12 and higher education.

The Rotary Club of Newberg was presented its charter on Wednesday, February 5, 1936 at a gala affair with over 400 people in attendance at the Newberg American Legion Hall. The club was officially chartered on January 14, 1936, however they met for the first time on December 20, 1935.

In celebration of 100 years of service in the Willamette Valley, our club is leading a community effort to construct a new, multi-purpose stage and cover at Salem’s Riverfront Park. Having already contributed two Riverfront Park landmarks – the Rotary Pavilion and the Rotary Children’s Playground – the new stage will become an iconic landmark identifying Salem and Riverfront Park as a premier spot in Oregon for fun and entertainment.
